Tutorials

The tutorials program is one of the highlights of the CSB Bioinformatics Conferences, offering attendees short courses in the interdisciplinary fields related to bioinformatics and the efficient implementation of large scale applications to high throughput computing. Attendees have the opportunity to interact with recognized leaders in the field and learn about the latest technology trends, theory and practical implementation of current challenging problems.

CSB2004 CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS

Thanks to the Computational Systems Bioinformatics (CSB) lecturers and students, the tutorials have become an essential part of the CSB conference series. These tutorials strive to address the needs of both new and professional bioinformaticists.

You are invited to submit a proposal for CSB2004 tutorials for August 9, 2004. It should be introductory or advanced levels appropriate for bioinformatics professionals, students and new entrants into the field. Tutorial sessions are approximately three hours long and require the advance preparation of high quality, peer reviewed printed materials for the students. Tutorials instructors will receive an honorarium.

The following are some topics we would like to see proposed for tutorials in 2004:
  •  The Microarray Workflow: Design, Processing and Management
  •  Data Visualization
  •  Biostatistics
  •  Cell Dynamics
  •  Dynamic Programming
  •  Beyond Homology-based Methods for the Elucidation of Function in Data Mining
  •  in silico Detection and Characterization of Gene-Gene Interactions
  •  Link Analysis for Bioinformatics: Current State of the Art
If you are interested in proposing a tutorial, please e-mail a short description (approximately one page) indicating:
  1. your interest in the area
  2. scope of the tutorial
  3. its relevance to the bioinformatics community
  4. your qualifications to teach this course.
Dr. Arun Jagota, the CSB2004 Tutorial Chair, will help the proposers turn their brief description into a full proposal which will then be peer reviewed.
